Motifs and Themes in Central European Fine Art explored by Computer Vision
In the past, borders existed, but they usually did not prevent free movement, and they changed frequently. For centuries, painters and visual artists have traveled freely, moved around and shared their artistic style, formal elements, genres, themes and motifs.
Once related artworks are today divided in different collections, in hundreds of museums across several independent countries.
Digital curator collected 196 116 classical artworks. Medieval and modern paintings, drawings and graphic prints create the big art-historical data that the Digital Curator works with. These data come from 140 museums in today’s Austria, Bavaria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
